Yorkshire where cash is king

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by jivedubbin, Mar 26, 2023.

  1. Along with digital ids and I’m sure once everyone is put into 20 min zones/cities we will have a social credit score as well.

we seem along with other places round the world to be following in chinas footsteps☹️

Uncanny Baz, anyone would think you were half Yorkshire or summat. It’s not as if you’ve ever mentioned it before :D

That’s not really true if you really think about it and follow it through.

Most bank to bank transactions are free unlike paying in cash

    Most places won’t take a £50note.

Then £50 for a haircut must be London prices.

What company wants to be burdened with cash you’ve got the security, handling and storage cost’s plus the paperwork.

We need a campaign to the effect that if cash goes then the banks cannot impose any charges for using one .

Who could head up the campaign, what about Nigel Farage , oh no just a minute , he just upsets the applecart having made publicity for himself then disappears like a rat down a hole leaving others to blame each other for the mess he made rather than blaming him

  6. I didn't want to explicitly mention digital IDs (I think I did imply it), nor did I want to mention 15/20 min cities, LTNs, ULEZs, Social Credit Scores, etc. One bite at a time, otherwise the fine people here might want to put their heads in the sandpit, to TBF I couldn't blame them. There's massive societal and financial change coming and it is unnerving to say the least.

Yes and its not being particularly hidden either, you just have to delve into the information.

  8. Any links to gov.uk plans?

  9. The job application for head of UK's CBDC has gone down now (flooded by applications apparently). https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/jobs.cgi?jcode=1835241 There's an article in March 7th's FT- but it's behind a paywall.
Here is a research paper published by the BoE: https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/pap...nities-challenges-and-design-discussion-paper

Our sailing club has a line on the accounts.. about £2500 a year for taking card payments. Or about the same as fifteen membership payments.

You forgot that every time a business deposits cash there can be bank charges too. Just like they want to charge you for ATM transactions that give you the cash in the first case. Every transaction made costs somebody time to perform it. That's lost money whether physical, digital or future blockchain.

  15. They have already changed it so you need approved Id to vote

I paid cash for my rather expensive dentistry work last year and my lovely flirty dentist called me dodgy ! Of course I made a complaint . Cash most definitely is still king in my world .
