If you got wired ones you could feed the wire in through the top corner of a door/window frame, might need to drill the wood but easy to seal. Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk
unlikely to work on an old stone substrate. think something in white to blend in with frames/sills would be best. and i could rig them from the upstairs windows with easy battery changing access. maybe? need some chain too to secure my bench. and hang a gate and get locks but first, shower then sewing!
no need if battery ones are suitable. because then there's tapping into existing electrics/switches etc.
Gets some cowbells or wind chimes attached to the back gates too, or an old style bike horn that gets pressed Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk
The wash tubs £ 60 up here but twice that down South. ...but they will need instructions how to use them! Sent from my SM-J320FN using Tapatalk
that's really horrible thankfully here it was only an inanimate object but i know that it's made carla feel uneasy. we even have a street light outside our front gardens, this was a brazen and time consuming act at 10.30pm on a saturday night! Am pleased he was challenged by a neighbour but think there's so little anyone can really do.
There are lots of scrotes about. My mate had a pot sink stolen from his garden. A man with a sack barrow and woman walking their dog at 5.00 am ,all seen on cctv. They need some fingers breaking! Sent from my SM-J320FN using Tapatalk
scrotes is one of my favourite terms, used to call students scrotees and they still proudly refer to their collective selves as such there's definitely some planning involved there. i guess it is only property at the end of the day and not people. people are much more important than things
Upsetting though it is, it was just a petty thief stealing an item from a neighbour's garden and the thief didn't try to steal from the house or hurt anyone and no damage was caused. These petty thieves are low life and probably nick stuff all the time to pay for their drugs. This particular thief is probably local and knows the road and checked out target items beforehand. Around here there have been a lot of 'ex cons' knocking on doors claiming to be destitute and selling items from their rucksack, but I have seen them wandering around neighbouring houses and obviously just checking what's worth nicking. I am very suspicious of these chaps all claiming to be from Newcastle.
Wow, you need to google "compassion" An elderly lady, who lives alone who is no doubt scared witless now about sleeping in her own home. Thankfully she has a good neighbour. Reassuring comment, perhaps @Ermintrude could pass on your best wishes to her I'm sure it will calm her nerves.
Cross bow trip wire , with note on gate thieves enter on their feet but leave in a box . Poor neighbour why ?? They need to read Robin Hood hope she’s ok .I’m sure they will wish they hadn’t whe they come across her neighbour !! Hope your ok too
I think that is a great idea Barn . Sadly you don’t want to shoot a fireman who might want access. But genuinely a good idea in theory
Noooo I’m sure @Ermintrude would like to vet firemen through her FRONT Door and other know the cat flap route
Carla is fine now as we cleared up we also plotted the thief's karmic punishment in glorious technicolour ... she can be a bugger when she gets going! I don't think she will dwell on it too much as when i left she was very philosophical about it (i'll text her later too), and she knows that if she does feel scared or vulnerable, there are people close by who she can call on anytime and who love her dearly. the sad truth is that if this chap had come to her asking for help, she would've gladly given him some money, the planter or helped out any way she could - she has such a good heart - which is why the rest of us will kill if anyone upsets her i think a light that not only illuminates her garden but one she can see from in the house would help, as she could then text me, i'd text the other neighbours and arrange for us all to meet in carla's yard and she wouldn't need to even open the door. a plus of terrace/close community living
Too many Herbert's wandering the streets.. Sorry Carla has been upset, sounds like she's philosophical.. How about a cctv sign..?
I could be wrong but I think what @mgbman was saying is these scumbags stole a plant pot which is a Marmitety thing to do but thankfully the lady in question wasn’t harmed physically,
