I'm after a good condition MIG welder if anyone has anything lying around in their garage. South of England area. Happy to collect. Thanks.
Where exactly do you live Mr Pickles? I’ve got a mig that you’re more than welcome to borrow in Bristol after this weekend but I would like it back. So if you’re anywhere near and don’t mind the tooing and froing, you’re more than welcome and it’s a decent one. Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,Mine just mainly stares at me ,
OzzieD Thanks for the offer, but I'm down in Hampshire so probably the share/borrow wouldn't work too well. Out of interest what is your decent one, if I cant find a good condition secondhand one then recommendations welcome. Cheers. Mr Pickles.
No wuckin furries bud. This is a machine mart Clarke type of Machine. It’s the biggest one you can get before going all anti social and getting a Euro Torch styled machine. If you can weld it’s fantasmo, if you can’t weld then it’s even better . It’ll do most stuff you need and more. Down side is you’ll need to buy some gas of some description, Argo mix is the biz. Ozziedog ,,,,, there’s a million and ten decent machines out there ,, Oz.
P.S. There’s a full cylinder of gas on it if anyone needs to borrow it. Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, don’t be shy if you’d need it
Changed to an inverter mig. So much light, easier to move about if you decide to buy one. The electronic trickery makes stick welding super easy if you ever need to do heavier welding.
Yes same here, in fact I am using a £200 ish inverter welder off eBay because it weighs so much less. And once you work out the undocumented feature, you can run either the 500g or 2.5kg reels of wire in it.. (undo the nut holding in the big reel holder, and theres the holder for the smaller reel hiding under it..). It has never overheated on me.
To weld thinner steel, if your welder doesn't go down to 20amps. Make up a 24ohm 200 Watt shunt load in an aluminium box and use it in parallel with your gun. On mine the shunt takes 10 amps, leaving 20 for the gun.
I'm the same as @mikedjames a £200 quid Ebay inverter and it's absolutely superb, as light as a feather and very versatile.
MIG 140A INVERTER WELDER 3in1 MMA TIG GAS GASLESS ARC WELDING MACHINE KIT | eBay This looks like the latest model of my welder, mine is gas only wheras this one is gas or gasless. It's the same company on Ebay Static_arc. I got mine in 2019 and its done loads of work both mig and stick.
Probably, it's gasless which can be a bit tricky. I'd rather spend eighty quid on a secondhand proper MIG on eBay
I bit the bullet and picked one up today. The one that Fruitcake linked to had sold out unfortunately so I got a slightly different model. I stopped in at the sellers unit in Leicester and picked it up on the way home. The owner was very helpful, took it out to show me and talked me through the settings. He even offered to give advice if I send videos and pictures of my efforts I had a quick go with it tonight, it's my first ever attempt at welding so I wasn't expecting much. I stuck some metal together at 100amps. Pics below (don't laugh!) Sent from my Pixel 8 using Tapatalk
Now now, that's not constructive. lol It's the first time he ever tried and the welder was probably set wrong.
