PIR board (Celotex type stuff) and recycled plastic bottle insulation stuff on a roll.

That brand of insulation is tough stuff compared to the more flimsy Celotex isn't it?

Lots of pros and cons about vapour barriers - we decided that a setup that breaths would be better, so no vapour barrier.

  8. Then there’s nothing to stop the warm moist air condensing and pooling behind your panels.

Not sure. I thought Celotex was the main brand that everyone knew? The stuff in the picture was from Selco as they were open late. Most of the otjher stuff was £20 a sheet from a small back street supplier ;)

true, that could happen, but we've gone for the ensuring the vehicle can breathe route.

Not being doing much on the van recently, in fact nothing has been done since the first weekend of September. We caught Covid and have taken a while to recover and then other family stuff got in the way.

Anyway, to the now. On Monday I drove up to Castleford near Leeds and got Steve Barratt to fit some underslung watertanks.

How are you on with the interior? Is it boarded out now?

Slowly getting there Alex. Not done a lot since we went back to workin September. We managed to board almost all of the walls and ceiling, and Heather built the partition and toilet walls (don't have a picture of them).
The electrics are in and working, though haven't really tested how good the solar is.
    Heater is the next job.

I'm a bit baffled by the layout with the partition.
High level bed in the back and a mahoosive storage space under for people smuggling that's only accessible from outside?

We haven't decided whether to put a few drawers in the centre of the partition or have a little door into the garage. The bed will be higher than other vans due to the extra high roof, so a massive garage - I want to be able to fit at least one bicycle in there along with all the other carp that we'll end up taking everywhere.

    It's the future!
Instead of Loo with a View, it'll be View of a Loo.

Gotcha. My focus in the tiny bay has always had to be minimise the crud I take with me. I do hate that game of shuffling all the crud around to get at something. Must be nice to have all that space.

Even with the Transit, we always ended up not having enough space. I guess it's like people who move into 4 bed detatched house from a bedsit and end up with too much carp. There will lots of head height cupboards, so hopefully we can take all we want with us - bike, inflatable kayak, chairs, outside table, wetsuits etc.
I do and I don't miss having a small camper :) I just wish there were other options on sale other than white.

Downsizing from a double fronted 4 bed house with a cellar and large garden office to a tiny boat was helpful. I guess 98% of possessions went. I really only own clothes, kitchen stuff and tools now and tools are in line for a big chuck out - Do I really need 50 screwdrivers and a heap of welding clamps? lol I'll even chuck the workmate I found when I'm done in here. I'd like a bass guitar though and a shorter scale 6 string electric but I'm already tripping over the one case I have and never use for my Strat. Think I might sell it just to be rid of the case.
