  1. how much work is involved with this , i m looking at a 914 5spd box code 901 and want to mate it to a type1 engine , its not goin to happen for a while but a box has come up and i m not sure whether to buy it . any thoughts most welcome

  2. It's not that hard...

Are you planning on running std heating?

Main reason for asking, is you have to run the shift rod here.....

  3. You'll need to flip the diff to get 5 forwards gears again if thats possible with a 914 box as the 914 was mid engined.

You'll also need to figure out a front mount (or a replacement nosecone) as the 914 box has this funky shaped number:

  4. and 90mm CV flanges!!

Plus you'll need a conversion flywheel, as the 914 flywheel is 8mm thicker, which then enables the starter to engage properly!! :)

  5. i did want to run heating but can live without it for a 5spd lol cool cheers for the info :) hopefully i ll get the box at the right price

  6. You can run std heating, but it would require moving the heater tube over, and a bit of re-engineering to connect it all in
