Looking at getting an air compressor to spray up my engine tinware and for future work (wheel and hub cap spraying, blowing dirt around etc). Having read around it would seem that I need to aim for at least at 50L 3HP compressor, what do the rest of you use? Bear in mind this is for light personal use and needs to fit it my shed (keep getting filthy looks from the missus for looking for other flats to rent with large garages; don't think they exist!).

  2. That'll be fine for small jobs... look for one that can output 14cfm

  3. Ive got one in the for sale section, slightly under those capacities, used to run everything fine apart from a die grinder, i had to stop every couple of minutes to let it catch up, welcome to test it

  5. Doesn't look too bad... just be aware that direct drive is quite a loud system (97dB) so working in the same area as it is stored is going to make your ears ring unless you wear some ear protection!! :)

  6. I looked at the burisch a while back as it was advertised in one of the classic car magazines. Never bought it or any other compressor so cant help I'm afraid. I do know from searching that burisch also sell through an ebay shop ... not sure if any cheaper that way, but might be worth taking a look.

  7. I bought one of these

Quite a bit bigger than the Burisch one that I also considered. As Paul says direct drive ones are noisy.

It measures 40" in length. When spraying my van it kept up a treat so for general bits and bobs would be plenty big enough I would think.

The Burisch one works out at £212-00 once delivery is added

  8. What about this one?
    £109.99 free delivery
Not as powerful as ones suggested but may be an option

Cheers guys. Yeah 97 db is the equivalent of a 747 landing I believe! Think the 90 litre would be too big for me to store anywhere. Think I'll give it a go. It's never going to be used for huge spray jobs (a whole van) so should be fine for my needs.

So I ordered the 50L burisch one. Friggin huge! Should be fun trying to store this chap in our 2 bed flat (fiancee is not impressed!)
