Alloy rocker covers

  1. I know the aftermarket bolt on rocker covers have a reputation for leaking
However at the show today i spotted some alloy ones that held on with spring clips akin to the original vw design

Does anyone know if these type are renound for leaking as i was quite taken by them for the paravan

Usually the ones held on with the original clips are chrome plates steel

  4. No these were alloy ones with a different shape to the original preesed steel ones

Im not a fan of chrome but a bit of polished alloy i do like
On a escort xr3 i owned i fitted an alloy rocker from a rs 1600i and i was pleasently suprised how much it dulled down the noise from the top end compared to the standard pressed steel one and it polished up a treat

Is that the ribbed alloy rocker cover on the rs 1600i ? Not seen clip on alloy covers

  6. Yeah it was the ribbed cover dude
I fitted a 1800 cvh sierra rocker gasket to it aswell
The standard cvh cork rocker gaskets were awfull for leaking but the sierra got silicone rubber ones with brass inserts and these werent often replacement items like the cork ones
I had no fingerprints on most of my fingers polishing that rocker cover though

Ive never seen aftermaket alloy rockers with spring clips before either thats why they caught my attention today
I wonder if there relativly new

  9. Sorry I have difficulty posting links from fleabay using my ipad because I use the app which means you don't see the web address, plus I couldn't be arsed last night :D

In work today on a proper PC so here are the links Paradude & yes let us know if they perform as I would also like a set & have them on my huge list of nice to have parts for making my camper look good rather than on the required/dropping off list :D

The first two links are from the same seller & the packaging looks empi style but not sure as they don't mention they are empi, the third is megabug who I have had parts from before & been quite happy with the service & quality, the forth I've not dealt with before...

I'd only use stock ones to be honest. I tried 2 different types and both leaked. Ordered stock from Heritage and had no more problems.

  13. Hi, did you fit the breather box setup yourself? Could you show me some pics and run through what equipment is used & whats connected to what etc.

    Thanks.

  14. Hi Robo. Its a bugpack one,you need to mount the box higher than the oil filler extension and two pipes go too the rocker covers. Some people braze in the mountig pipes others bolt them in these should come in the kit.
the third pipe goes into the oil filler pipe or you can tap into the crankcase.[IMG]
