Any MacBook owners running Mountain Lion?

  1. I didn't update mine the last time around. Is ML stable, any probs?

Mavericks coming, but I might as well update now.

  2. Am I the only one who has no idea what this means? ;)

  3. I have Mountain Lion on my iMac. Purchased from the apple store and installed over Snow Leopard. No problems with stability.

  4. Ive bought a new iMac and two new mac pros this year with mountain lion on and they all seem to be running fine.

Except for the ponsie stoopid iMac keyboard, half the keys don't do what they are supposed to do.

  5. It's secret ;)

  6. I have ml, I'll have iOS 7 tonight as well if all goes to plan.

  7. Me too, if everything doesn't fall over. Not sure I like the "cleaned up" look, but we'll see.

  8. Is it mapped properly? Must say, Mac keyboards are generally a pain.

  9. I have ML on my IMAC all seems OK, now page down ... anyone know how to do that on a mac keyboard?

  10. It was. When you use the keyboard map on screen a few keys just don't work.
Got a new one coming Saturday. John Lewis wanted the whole mac back. I said no way just for a keypad and he said as a good will gesture they would refund £5o if I bought a apple keypad. Just so they had one in stock so got a new key pad for about a tenner.
That's what he reckons it would cost them to pick up and deliver back to us. Very nice people.

  11. So I get to keep my old one to take apart to see what's in the inside.

  12. Both my iMac and macbook are upgraded to Mountain Lion and had no issues. The new Maverick IOS isn't too far away now....

  13. I love my iMac keyboard and mouse. So sleek.

  14. Do you stroke it :)?

It's the key layout and values that are a bit barmy. And the shambles of having Fn, Cntrl, Alt and Command (and shifted values) with no particular logic behind them is something that's long overdue for a sorting out, IMHO.

  15. The main thing that annoys me about my IMAC keyboard is the poxy caps lock green light that is hidden by your left hand when typing so you dont see for ages that youve LEFT THE FLIPPING CAPS LOCK ON FOR AGES AND AGES.... bugger......

  16. John Lewis are, generally, excellent in my experience :)

  17. I've been considering upgrading my 2010 unibody macbook to Mountain Lion, along with whacking 8gb of ram in there too. It seems OK on our new Macbook Air, but Finder annoys me now because you can't easily get to half the things on the hard drive that you can with Snow Leopard.

  18. They're talking about Mac OS X, which is the operating system for all Mac computers. It's called OS X because it's the 10th version of the operating system (Windows gave up numbering after Windows 3.11, and then restarted with Windows 7).

Each version of OS X has a different nickname.

    10.0 was called Cheetah.
    10.1 was called Puma.
    10.2 was called Jaguar.
    10.3 was called Panther.
10.4 was called Tiger. (this was the last version of OS X to support the old Power PC processors - all future operating system would run on Intel-based Macs only.)
    10.5 was called Leopard.
    10.6 was called Snow Leopard.
    10.7 was called Lion.
10.8 is called Mountain Lion. This is the current operating system.

And the best bit is, it doesn't matter which version you learned to use, you can pretty easily get used to any one of the others without having to book yourself into a 3 day training course to re-learn how to use your computer!!

  19. same here and no probs :)

  20. Who's iOS7-ed up?

I'll wait until the rush dies down...
