Anyone on here removed an MCJ steering wheel

  1. In the hunt to sort my horn out I have now decided the fault must lay in the horn button on the wheel. I removed the horn, cleaned the temrinals and checked it on a spare battery (loud noise produced) - checked my wiring at the bottom of the steering box - all present and correct so hence turned to the wheel.

How do they come off though? I removed the hex bolts which allowed me to remove the wheel but I can't see a way into the main boss. Anyone on here done this?

On a more positive note I fixed my rear indicators which were not working - loose spade connectors and dodgy earths - all cleaned and tightened up.

  2. take the horn push off and undo the centre nut
you will have to refit the wheel to the boss to get it off
you shouldnt need to remove the wheel to do the horn though

  3. Sorry but how do I get the horn push off? Lever under with a screwdriver??

  6. Thanks Kev, I will lo0k for that next time I am out there. I managed to fix my horn thriugh a combination of things. Wet and dried all of the teminals on the fuse box, and the fuses, same at the horn and terminals. Still nada. Removed baseplate of steering column - all good there - still nada. Start to think about taking the wheel off. Get stuck , post on here, still stuck. Decided to put the base plate back on - test the horn. It worked!! But I had left off the washers that were down there. So undid the screws put the washers on there and did it back up. Test the horn - nothing!

Remove washers and replace plate - test and it works. God knows what's going on here but its working so we move on...
