Audrey 73 Westfalia

  1. Hello everyone, great to be amongst such a fountain of knowledge where I seem to be somewhat lacking.
My camper, Audrey, has been in for bodywork for ages and although I took all of her internal Westfalia innards out, I currently feel like I am trying to complete a jigsaw without a picture as I try to rebuild her insides. With that in mind, I would love it if anyone was able to send me some photos of the following parts.
Pop top attachment (Westfalia, rear elevation) to roof bed and fastening to van when in transit.
Internal water tank fittings to tap (I have a whale tap) and caps that should be on top of the water fill tube. Mine currently has just an open tube which will go out through the bottom of the van, what should go on the underside to stop the water all escaping?
The little seat in front of the rock and roll bed is also confusing me as I can’t remember what went along the back. At the moment my cushion just wobbles off as it is unsupported.

    All help very gratefully received.
    Thank you!

Which model Westfalia is it? There should be a little plate on the bed support panel with a code number on it.
Or post some pics up of what you're struggling with, that always helps...

  4. Well, roof bed fittings are now understood and the pieces are attached to the bed ready for installation. Thanks to you and the great diagrams in one of the manuals.

I think we have mastered the water tank outlets too.

I found the back of the under seat cupboard which solves that issue too, progress is certainly being made.

I ordered some internal roof supports from JK, hoping they were the two strips of metal along the pop top opening that the roof bed fits on but they have arrived and clearly are not the right things. Does anyone know where I could get some, please?

Also, I have fitted a retrosound radio but have no speakers, do you have any recommendations for good speakers for the van?

  7. Fair point. Here is a photo. A metal bar should go along here to support the top bed. What does it look like please? EB7608D9-784E-46DE-932D-E4B3A7F563BC.jpeg

  8. Here are the wrong metal strips which I ordered from JK. They are called internal
roof strengtheners but are obviously meant for somewhere else…If any one has a picture of what the correct strips look like it would really help me to find them or, if you know who has them that would be even better. Thank you.

  9. They look like the panels that went inside above the cab to spread the weight of the westfalia roof hinges above. There was a company making the roof bed brackets as a kit, vw evolution rings a bell, I think nlavw were too. Could be worth asking if they’d sell you the bits you are missing?

  10. Thank you, I will get on to it. That is really helpful.

You've got the roof bed toggles on top of your cabinet in that picture...

  12. Yes, we have. Well spotted. They are a bit perished but we are going to keep them on your suggestion. Thank you.
