  1. I know they are the same company :)

Our JK Retro Awning hasnt survived Download Festival and im now looking for a replacement for a trip back home to Scotland.

This forum is renown for having high standards and excellent recomendations so if you were to choose between:-
    Outwell Country Road http://www.outwell.com/en/Products/Tents/Touring/CountryRoad.aspx
    or
    Sebring 200 http://www.easy-camp.com/en/Products/Tents/MotorTour/Sebring200.aspx

what would you guys go for and why.

    >Mods. Should this go on the Reviews Board? If so can you move it please<

  2. I brought the Sebring a couple of months ago on amazon for £239 from cornwall camping or something,. Anyway would recomend it for the money. i wanted it because a its cheap and b it has a sewn in grown sheet. Used it a couple of weeks back for a week in devon with no probs :)
I had an outwell montana before and would definately buy outwell again, in the end it was just down to money. Quality not quite as good as outwell but very close :)

  3. I got the Royal Traveller 4 from JK. It took me well under an hour to put it up first time, on my own, and it seems like really good quality. It is MASSIVE though.

  4. Neither. Khyam all the way :p

  5. Which Khyam model? The MotorDome Tourer is not as big as the Outwell or Sebring but is around the same price. I know that quality costs but i need to be sure that ive enough space for when the kids get older

I've got the Khyam Motordome Sleeper which is massive.
To be honest though they're barely any quicker to put up than non-quick erect types.

  7. Longer in my case and they need a fitted groundsheet imho. I can put my Traveller up quicker. The space is great but its all a bit of a faff!. Main body up quick then an absolute age to peg down and ive never quite worked out how to get it right, theres always gaps!

What happened to the JK one? do you still have and is it fixable?

I guess a fitted groundsheet would make them even more unmanageable though!
If I was buying another one I'd think twice about the Khyam. Great quality and size once its up but I think Dicky summed it up perfectly as "a bit of a faff."

  9. it was a lack of a sewn in ground sheet that put me off a kyham, other than that they look great :)
Sewn in groundsheet for me is essential, if you are going to sleep in the awning that is :)

The bedroom part has a sewn in groundsheet, its the main area that doesn't.

We used an Outwell Country Road the other weekend (22nd June) and when it blew a gale it stayed up and in place. Other awnings on the campsite were suffering, and were put away or were seen dancing dementedly. Windbreaks were being flapped over.
Only major problem was rain blowing horizontally through the door zips.
A minor problem was that the section from the bus to the tent which attaches to the gutter tended to flog around in the gusts if it wasnt tight. A piece of rope over the top quietened it down.

  13. Excellent. I just got a royal traveller three. Have only put it up in the garden yet but it is awesome....

  14. I would recommend the outwell, I have the mountain road though, slightly larger than the country road, but it has a zip out groundsheet, so you have the option os using it or not.

This our 3rd awning, and it does take 30 mins to put up and peg out, groundsheet carpet etc, but the extra time is worth the effort. ITS HUGE!!!

very well built and fits a bay really well, and unlike alot of other awnings supposedly make for buses, the sliding door opens FULLY inside the tunnel with room to spare, and the tunnel still extends to halfway along the passenger door.

  15. Kyham drive away awning sleeper version ripped on first use in the wind, not impressed from response in fact still waiting, no spare parts either unti mid July. Even then they don't know what's in the box coming. Beggars belief, horizontal rip across the fabric which is difficult to understand. Asked for rent to be replaced under manufacture error but no reply 8 days and counting.....

  16. good awning at a good price usually! Old school but damned sturdy and easy to put up!

  17. Cheers guys. The prognosis for our JK one is not good. It developed a number of black patches, screw missing from one upright, angled connecting sections massivly bent out of shape. Dont know what my wife and her mates were doing at download but the awning is fooked now.
Outwell are not listing the mountain road now. just the Country Road and the Californian Highway (which is far too big & expensive)

I have the country road I love it, zip in groundsheet and plenty of room, can get it up in about half hour now.

  19. yes they are..we got couple of storm straps too for when it gets really windy.well worth the money if you going to camp on cliffs and exposed areas.
