  2. Any cheapo charger will damage the battery eventually

For longer term battery charging/maintainance, get something like this one for £27

1.5 amp Intelligent Battery Charger for 6V and 12V Lead Acid and Gel Batteries

    • 1.5 amp Intelligent Battery Charger
    • Suitable for all types of 6V and 12V lead acid and gel batteries
    • Smart charging - Multi stage fully automatic for fast, safe battery charging
    • Fast charging - Charges up to twice as fast as manual & automatic chargers
    • Safe charging - Can be left safely connected to a battery permanently.
    • Ideal for long term trickle charging

ok cheers so it's got to be an intelligent one then, I have a c-tek in the van for my leisure battery which does all that trickery but just wanted a cheapy one for the engine battery, the one you link seems ok for £27 ta.

  6. Optimate or Accumate.
    I've had both for years.
They even resurrect slightly naff batteries. :)

  8. Whenever I go to Aldi (ok I don't go, @Mrs Top Banana Racing's mum does) they never seem to have any of this stuff in stock.
Am I unlucky or do you have to order it in or summat?

@Moons just text me having seen this thread that he was in aldi and they had them in so I told him to get one, a quick google shows they are good and will do what I need for £13.99 happy days.
(I have a big massive start and charge battery charger from when I had my landies but I wanted a small one to leave in the van) I suppose I could have adapted the c-tek to do either battery but it's hidden away and permanently wired to the leisure circuit.

There's loads of them in Lichfield Aldi...strangely the 'myopic intensifier for people that smell of wee' is sold out as is the 'Help, I drive at 5 miles an hour but will still not see you on the pedestrian crossing' sensor.

I’ve used one of these on my MGB for more than ten years: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/atc12v-car-battery-charger it might not be intelligent but it has kept the original battery in good enough condition to fire up the V8 after a few months in the garage. And I’ve had one for the Bay battery for four years.

I’m not really interested in coloured lights and a digital display; I just plug these things in and forget about them, but that Aldi one looks good for less than 14 quid.

  15. c tech, cost about £50 but it's probably one of the best things bought for the bus, done my leisure battery and my car from flat, reconditions the battery and you can see every stage on the Led screen. highly recommended.

I have a c-tek in the van permanently wired to the leisure so it's a sort of 12v slave if you like when on site. I bought a real good one when I got my van it is even able to run as just a supply at 12v if you want to remove the battery.

  17. You forgot the Parking Assist function that traces out the same 90* path back and forth 30 times...

@Moons just delivered this, looks well made (mode button and design look very c-tek) probably made in the same factory! £13.99 lovely, gonna try and ressurect an old battery later.
