Beach Buggy Project

  1. Bit different and not strictly Bay shaped but it is an aircooled VW.

This is a 1966 VW based Beach Buggy. It is correctly registered on the V5 as a V/Wagen Beach Buggy Convertible Historic Vehicle.
I bought this in 2007 and drove it home where I removed the GP body and bought a brand new original Mel Hubbard Sidewinder shell along with side pods. I know it is a genuine Mel Hubbard one as I bought it off him and collected it from his house not too far from me. I stripped the pan and repainted it as well as painting the engine. The engine is a 1600 twin port fitted with twin 36 Dellorto DRLA's. The electrics were shot so were removed and a new loom purchased. Unfortunately I then spent a year in the US through work and so the buggy was laid up awaiting my return however I bought my Westy back with me and that has since been the focus of my attention. Now I need the buggy gone as the garage at the end of the garden is being demolished to make way for the new garage and brewery and I do not have the time to get this back on the road.

  4. god damn that looks good.

are all the major parts there for completion?

Does it have a reg number? as in would it just need an MOT? no IVA?

  5. I have the V5 in my hand with the reg number on it.
It is SORN'd though so I can't promise they wont want to inspect it the only major difference being a colour change.

I can't think what else it needs to complete save for a few bolts here and there which I may have although I'd personally want to buy new stainless ones.

  6. mmm banded sprintstars.

looks good for the price.good luck & if you don't have any luck with it,bear me in mind for the wheels & carbs
(hopefully for you it won't come to that)
