Beatle heater exchanges on a van? Flap controls

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by OrangeVW, Jul 20, 2013.

  1. Hi

I have some Beatle heater exchanges on the van and the flap controls for the bug ones are on the opposite side to the van ones.

Is there anyway to swap the arms over or any other way to get the. Working on the van? With out putting van ones back on?

    Cheers

you can bend them back on themselves ,the one on the left is before the modification.

OrangeVW and Paul Weeding like this.
  3. As simple as that thanks :)

  4. I don't do anything. I just fit the cable directly onto the activating arm...just throw the tiny circlips away on the fitting kit and use a small bolt and a nyloc.

  5. I meant the lever on the opposite side of the ones in the pic...the ones with the holes in them!

  6. If you've got Beetley ones, strip the lower linkage off and fix a short length of flat metal sheet with a hole in it to the upper actuator arm to extend it, so the lever can be pulled bus-style.

  7. This is great, I replaced one of my exchangers before I put my engine back in, got it all fitted, pipes connected, went to connect the cable and realised it only has one arm, the beetle one, on the wrong side!

I'll have a look now at bending it over, but I don't now how the cable will cross over, I'll see!

  8. keep us updated, I need to order some new cables for mine they were snapped
