I've been doing a few jobs on the beetle today. I have an issue with one front caliper which is binding on. I have somewhere local which I may use to get both refurbished.

I'm a little uncertain to whether I have the correct pads fitted before I order new ones. Currently they have a single hole.

I have attached a pic of some other ones compatible with my car.

If anyone can shed any light be much appreciated

File/chip the rust out where the edges of the pads touch the calipers, its always been that on my ageing cars when the pads start binding.

It looks like you would need different springs if you use any two hole pads. Plus the single hole pads are rounded, so the new ones shown are nothing to do with your calipers.

Thanks Mike I think the piston is jammed as I have very little pad on the one side.

I have done some more digging and the pads I have fitted are right so will get some new ones ordered up

  4. What stops single hole pads in place, ours are 2 hole.

Is this a Brazil bay? I've never seen calipers like that.

You kinda twist them in and they rest on the caliper.

  8. Beetle only had three types of caliper ATE square single pin pads to 1972. ATE Square two pin pads same as Type 3's for one year only 72-73. Girling rounded single pin pads from 73.
