I like the look of that. Even though its covered in lacquer it'll still change to a lovely rusty colour if used in the wet. One of my mates had a lacquer over bare steel 'paint' job and he said he was lucky if it lasted maybe a couple of years before it'd need bare metalling again. It was only used in dry weather and was stored in a heated garage too.
Wiring almost complete. Everything done except the horn, why is it always the horn that never seems to work? Engine will be dropped in this weekend, interior and last few bits, hopefully get an mot on it next week!
Getting there, few issues with the clutch. It not being the right one so engine fitting has taken a backseat till Monday. Door locking mechs all cleaned and fitted and driver door on. Shocks fitted, fuel tank and bonnet.
Last few bits done tonight. 13/14hr days over the last 10 or so days. Finally finished, had a few teething problems along the way such as the fuel tank drain rusted away and leaking like a sieve but it's ready for the MOT tomorrow. Fingers crossed it passes and my bro gets to drive it to big bang. (shame the weather is going to be pants)
Noooooooo! I just didn't get finished in time, we could have rushed it and got it to the MOT but it just wouldn't have been right. Still, gives us a few months to get it perfect in time for Bug Jam 26 and show and shine.
MOT time tomorrow!! Fingers crossed. There is a little issue that seems a bit odd, under the super duper por15 laquer there are little spider leg rust type stragles. Does anybody know what they are and if it's rust, how the devil did it get there?
