Best Parts depot?

  1. It's been a few years since I was in the VW owning game, and back when I was buying parts on a regular basis I used to go to my local German & Swedish (now GSF) who could supply me with almost anything and very cheaply too. I was looking on their website recently and it seemed difficult to get even basic items. Have they reduced their range to just modern vehicles?

I've used VW Heritage before and they seemed OK and Just Kampers although they could be pricey...

Where do you guys recommend as the best and cheapest places to get parts from?

GSF sell a lot of parts. They do an air-cooled only catalogue.
Other than them there's JK and Heritage as you've said; cool air, t2 customs, machine 7, custom & commercial etc etc

  3. Machine 7 for me. Excellent service every time from them, and proper German parts not Chinese Ill fitting junk.

    :)

  5. Cheers fellas  - I didn't realise the GSF aircooled business had changed - I'm guessing, having looked at their site you can still buy in store - there's a GSF branch only 4 miles from me and it saves time being able to collect stuff you need NOW!
I'll also look at Coolair - not used them before - I guess I will do what I normally do and shop around for best prices - it's good to know which outlets are better though. I like to get proper German parts where I can - I learned with my last van that cheap stuff rarely lasts. :)

  6. I have not used Cool Air so far but I think that they give a 10% discount to TLB members, unless I dreamt that.

  7. Vw Heritage, Custom and Commercial used few times too ,seem good and helpfull when they rang as something was out of stock. most free postage over £50 so it's worth getting a list so you over £50,,, not used JK for a while.

  8. Tend to shop around from the usual suspects listed, sometimes worth it...

  9. you didn't :D

  10. No, that is correct. You need to speak to bigrich.

  11. Great stuff - good to know these things...

  12. I tend to use CoolAir when I can as find them very helpful and good quality parts - didn't know they gave TLB members a discount though - damn, could have saved a lot!

  13. Just Kampers will also give latebay members a discount, ask for Shaun.

  14. Vee Wee is an old VW parts supplier taken over by GSF and they have revived the name. Some of the Gsf branches will have Aircooled stuff in stock or can get it same day. others dont seem to be interested, depends if theres a old VW fan working there.
I use GSF for Brake and service parts, also batteries are cheap there. and they deliver to my workplace.
Custom and Commercial are good in my experience
Schofield's are pretty good if you need panels.
megabug are good too always seem to have all the small clips and things.
Kingfisher Customs are good guys too.

I tend to shop around when i need somthing not very loyal im afraid.

GSF Portsmouth branch has got aircooled parts in stock - got air hoses and distributor clamp there today. Good that its less than 2 miles from work.
