My van has discs at the front , the calipers have two bleed nipples ,
When bleeding them which do i bleed first ?
They are located one above the other about six inch apart.

  2. Just use the upper ones.

  5. Nope mate the clever designers did not put them there for no good reason ,all will be revealed .....

  6. I don't reckon it was wasted effort, you need the bottom ones to open to drain the fluid (every 2 ish years)

The lower ones keep a reservoir of special black 40 year old brake fluid in there ready to boil just when you need that extra stopping power. When I changed all the nipples on mine and replaced the special fluid my brakes worked a lot better.

  8. Don't change it! The black brake fluid perfectly complements the 40 year-old brown sludge in your gearbox. It's an essential feature of your van.

If VW had intended brake fluid to be changed, they wouldn't have installed calliper nipples that shear off as soon as you show them a spanner.
