Are these as rubbish as my gut feeling thinks they might be or are they any good?
Or does anyone know where to get a German quality one or at least a good used one? Right side for 75 bus.

They are rubbish ... I trashed one eight years ago learning to be gentle, refitted two new ones and put silicone spray on felts and greased up the new mechanisms completlely.

They have served well since , but you do need to arrange the winders so they are at 90 degrees and their weight is trying to wind the window up, or they creep open as they dont have the clever locking cams of the OG mechanisms. The OG mechanisms have machined gears. Brazilian have pressed mild steel.

    Lots of lube, be gentle.

    Well thanks @Lasty and @mikedjames

I’m having problems. I managaded to bastardise two broken ones to make one good one and have it in place. Problem is it doesn’t want to adjust properly no matter what I do. I greased it all nicely before fitting but the window doesn’t want to stay true all the way up. It tries to escape the felts towards the top. As a result the winder is under too much pressure and the spline gear comes out. I’ve whacked it back in with a mallet.

How much would you want for one Lasty posted to London? I might be able to make techEnders but haven’t approached the subject with the wife yet!

Any thoughts on any of the above?

    Cheers

    Paul

I’m working on it. She’s not too keen on coming along as she has no interest in oily bits and she thinks it’s too far for a weekend camping. We’ve got two small kids and a dog so leaving them behind is a bit of a yellow snow take. I haven’t given up hope though.

    P.
i didnt take the glass out so i wouldn’t have thought so.
