Can you install too much insulation?

  1. I read something earlier and it said so rust was created because of a hole through the window rubber and too much insulation.

I'm about to do my insulation any tips ??!

    carlperkins001 and 1973daisey like this.
  2. I think the reasoning behind that would be insulation holds moisture..
More insulation, more moisture, more rust.

I know nothing of insulation, but I'm guessing if you have completely waterproof insulation, that won't trap water. No problem.

But don't hold me to that.

  3. If air is allowed to flow behind the insulation or between the insulation and the van body then the dew point will be the inside of the panel , therefore condensation will form on the panel . So any insulation needs to be closed cell and preferably bonded to the inside of the panel. There isn't really such a thing as too much insulation , but if not fitted properly then its pretty pointless and will indeed trap moisture. Most of the heat in the van will disappear through the glass anyway !
