  1. Morning
I need a bit of advice please
I dropping a new engine in my bus it's a bug engine so I've fitted the adapter for the engine bar but after offering my old clutch up I soon realised the bug engine needs a 180mm clutch my old engine has 200mm clutch do
    A:get a 180mm clutch
    B: swap flywheels
A is my preferred option as I don't would rather not disturb the fly wheel on the new engine but swapping flywheels is the cheaper option

Swap flywheels, but check/shim end-float is cheapest.
180mm clutch a tad small for a heavy bus...

  3. Think you may be right zed
I hate checking end float :(

  4. What year is your bus dude??

  5. It's a 78 Paul :)

  6. Should really be a 215mm clutch and flywheel then.... unless you have a pre 76 box in there?

He has a "new" beetle engine c/w flywheel, but it's 180mm flywheel.
lowie Don't you have the old engine? It will have a selection of extra shims and the flywheel/clutch?
No parts to buy, just a dial gauge or feeler guage thing. Gotta be worth the effort, take your time and trust yourself.

  8. All done mork nipped over and we had a dial gauge on it all good :)
Just got to get up in air now it's heavy with its deep sump lol
