Cold start air feed

  1. Fitted the cold start air feed to my bay last week. The one that picks up the hot air from the cylinder head and connects via a pipe to the air box. Just want to know how the air box works? How does it know to switch from this air feed to the the air feed it the engine bay? It works ok but I'm a bit baffled as to how it functions?!? I assume its temperature related. Just after a bit of knowledge is all.

  2. There's a wax thermostat in the air box (the thing that the two pipes are connected to). This either lets the actuating vacuum through or not, according to the air temperature.

edit: I assume your vacuum lines are connected, or it'll do nowt ;)

  3. Sweet. Cheers for that. Just looks so basic at first glance.
