CV Rubber Boots

  1. Morning one and all, just looking for some advice please, whilst replacing the gearshift coupler on my van yesterday I noticed that two CV boots had split (both on same shaft) so I was wondering has anyone got any thoughts on who supplies the best replacement rubbers? want to get some ordered sharpish so I can get the job done. Oh and is there anything I should be looking for when replacing the boots as I am a 'CV boot virgin' but though I would had a go at changing them myself...."in for a penny in for a pound as they say"
    Thanks
    Dave

  3. Hi Dave, I've tried various makes over the years and none have lasted very long but last year I had genuine vw ones from vwheritage and these are still ok.
The job is quite straightforward but very messy with the molybdenum grease that you have to clean off to get at the circlip holding on the cv joint which you need to remove, although you only need to take one off to do both ends.
Nice quick delivery from vwheritage as well
    Good luck Nick.

  4. I bought the cheaper complete ones from @vwheritage and they are very good

Go for the original ones from VWH....more expensive but believe me there worth every penny , the differance in quality to repro is massive .
