Devon pop top skylight

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by RoJo, Nov 11, 2013.

  1. I went in to a carpark and just got under the barrier. The barrier on the way out was supposedly the same height. Nuff said.
Does anyone know where I can get a skylight for a 73 Devon Moonraker roof?
    Thanks

  2. JK stock them/

  3. yeh jk do um , be careful when drilling it though use tape both sides n a variable speed drill ,they can crack or split . i use rubber washer under bolt head to that helps stop cracking around hole and keeps nice n water tight too.

  4. Tony, I can only find moonraker roof seals and they are no longer stocked.
I have not seen a roof like this one elsewhere so it may be non standard. It is a 3/4 length roof with curved sides. See pic attached.
It has (had) a square clear skylight that rose up on a scissor arrangement. The roof raising is by sprung mechanisms that fold in half towards then centre of the bus. To raise the roof you stand on the seat and push front and back.
I will take some pictures when I get home.

  5. sometimes have to watch out for pre drilled that they match your skylight cap clamps /supports thou

  6. have you just smashed sky light cap?? look at jk roof cap the skylight caps are with that

  7. Found the one on the JK web site - not mine. Mine is oblong and clear.
Oh dear this might be tricky.

  8. Is the roof cap on yours ok ?? is it just the skylight thats busted?? Put pic of your sky light up .

  9. is hole in roof oblong? show us pic of it if you can and might be able ta make a suggestion . If its an oddball might get one from caravan /motor home supplier , dont panic you will get something that will fit or you can adapt im sure:thumbsup:

This is the one shown on the pop top parts link above....It fitted my Devon roof spot on.

Not sure if the moonraker skylight is different.

  11. Looks exactly like my skylight in my Devon moonraker.

The brackets/supports are screwed x 4 through into the side wall on the metal rim of skylight :)

  12. mmm just wondered why the bolts are showing thru the top then ?

  13. also thats a eurovette roof not a moonraker which is why i ask for pic s of his skylight .

  14. Those are the pre-drill holes and the bolt heads showing on the top? Unless i'm not understanding your point??

Mines a Devon Moonraker and has the same roof?? :confused:x:confused:

  15. i think we might all be getting confused , ie pic he put up isnt that a later one?? or even a dormy like silvers ??

  16. the brackets are fixed with two small bolts to the funnel/ali frame. The skylight is then fixed to the brackets with nuts/bolts with a rubber grommet in the skylight hole (they come supplied with the skylight from poptop parts I think), i then blobbed some sealant on the bolts when assembling for extra waterproofing, not pretty but it's not seen often!

So my roof is called a Eurovette roof?? every day is a school day...

  17. Ha ha yes we are..!! His is a later curved one like in this link http://poptop-parts.co.uk/devon-bw75.htm and it might be a non-standard window that someone has put in as there doesn't seam to show one on this link? :):D

  18. no its a devon , its me will just that other isnt same as ours , mine is same as yours but your cross bracket ting are diff mine have angle section onto cap not flat side like yours , how confusing is that :D
