did they offer an auto option on the t25 diesel?

just thinking aloud to myself - if and when my engine goes for a burton i'd be interested in changing to a diesel as Subaru is just too much cash, but because mines an auto going diesel could be a bit of a pain - or could it? if t25's had this option then it may work - anyone know?

  2. Pass... The diesel engine is the same as the mk2 golf engine... so if you can find someone breaking a petrol auto, then the flex plate will be a straight swap!!

Just a case of mating it up with the box then!!

You should do my job by the sounds of it - plenty of smelly old derv in my life!

I drive a diesel as my daily so to have two diesels would make sense. I still have the odd moment of panic when I fill up :(

  7. Id love to go derv engine in my bay but they run a lot hotter than a petrol engine so sorting the cooling could be troublesome

Nice landrover 200tdi engine with loads of torque running around on waste veg oil would be great

i saw a golf diesel in a early they had to put a rad in the front but disquised it well, that's why i was asking about the t25 option you could also run a couple of small rads in the vents maybe and one lorry one under the van like the scooby ones? i dunno - as i say i'm just thinking out loud, one thing's for sure petrol will only get dearer and my bay won't get any more efficient if it stayed the same!

    interesting site that!

But not really as far as the diesel's go? Some teeny conversions getting barely any more performance or mpg. If you were going to go to the trouble, you'd want better improvements, well I would..

it wouldn't take much to improve my mpg lol.....

  13. I think if you ran the under rad as per the scooby systems you'd be fine... I'm running my mk2 golf gtd on an ally 8v petrol rad... gets a bit warmer this time of year but never goes over 3/4 on the temp gauge!!

Plus I've got a modified mk1 golf gti oil cooler to go on once I get the new engine up and running... this gives you a thermostatically controlled oil to air cooler, alongside the conventional oil to water cooler!!

I think dieseling bolly is a very valid thought dude  Just a bit of a monetary/time challenge!! :)

it's just me thinking out loud really, i'm not gonna do anything until/if the engine plays up - to be fair the box will prob fail first.....

  15. Theoretical challenges are often the best!! :D

Another question is, are you wanting to keep Bolly an auto?

i have no prefference on auto/manual other than the fact it's easier to stay the same than change.... that said shoud the engine or box go pop i'd look at any option i guess.

luckily the american bays have the narrow idiot proof unleaded fillers so you can't put a larger diesel hose in!
