  1. had one on my last bus but that was a long time ago. Doubt mines ever had one as it was originally a westy and the curtain rail fixes on there. How about solvol autosol ?

leave it in a bucket of diluted bleach for a couple of days, will be good as new :)

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

It had one Dicky, it flapped down about 1" to keep grease from the track off the curtain. Well my Westy did, but it had shrunk and gone wobbly like westy plastic trim on the cupboards does.

  4. oh that one. thought we were talking about the one that actually fits to the track. I know the one you mean now. Wonder what happened to it i did used to have one.

  5. ok, pics as promised

    pretty grim eh?

believe it or not this rubber isnt burnt or scorched as far as I can tell

with all the scrubbing and different cleaners I've used this end bit is as clean as I've got it so far :(

and for those that are interested heres a pic of the cross section

I've now got it sat in a bucket of strong nasty toilet cleaning bleach....with a little bit of water added :D ....I'll hook it out in a couple of days and see how it is

  6. Looks like it's been down the bog already

I wouldn't hold out too much hope - the brownness I think is the rubber being discoloured by UV in sunlight.

  7. wooooooah yours is terrible! i thought mine was bad lol. I'd be interested in a bulk buy if possible.
if not ill probably go for a grey one.

what is this trim actually for? just aesthetics?

  8. To stop people cracking their skulls on the sliding door track, I think.

  10. sounds legit..

  12. Not seen one quite that bad... reminds me of nicotine staining... Never managed to get all the marks off mine but I think a lot are caused by grease from the slider track getting onto the rubber and then slowly over time staining it. Heat (if from that sort of climate) may also add to the process of decay over 30 or so years...

  13. Ah - thats the one I originally thought of and not the westy one! Think you may end up painting it! Did someone say this was available in grey as I wouldnt mind one in mine tbh

I was thinking along the same lines but was going to suggest 320/400 grit wet n dry.

  15. i might try the sandpaper idea later today.

  16. probably best idea to start with. the erasers are good for small rust stains on white vinyl. brought my pop top vinyl up a treat!

Mine's not too stained so we just live with it. If I did have a go with sandpaper I'd start on an area which is less visible and try it wet first just to see if it works before I went the whole hog.

  18. Hey Diddy forget about it put it back as it is and get the bus on the road ... too much faffing about going on here :D

    Diddymen and PeaSoup like this.
  19. lol, dont worry I'm not getting side tracked! ......just looking at the little bits while I'm waiting for parts, or money to buy parts, or waiting for bits from the powder coaters :D

  20. Good to hear ... who's doing your powder coating, anyone local?
