WANTED Distributor Vacuum Can Type 4

Discussion in 'Late Bay Classifieds' started by secondtimearound, Feb 17, 2022.

  1. I don't suppose anyone has one of these in their stash?

I bought a spare 34 SVDA from ebay that had a knackered can (yeah, not mentioned in the ad.....) so looking to swap it out. Hoping to get an original rather than a repro if possible.

    Thanks!

  2. Whats the part number on the Distributor ? I will take a look tomorrow. If my shed is still there.

  4. Looks like you guys are getting what we had up here earlier in the week, hope you don't get too badly hit.

  5. Only one ive got ending 205 vac unit is no good. Got a old one that I can't read number as its grotty. Holds vacuum but has a plastic pipe fitting and distributor has type 1 clamp. Loads of new style ones if they fit ?

I reckon we will get 100mph plus. Everything is away that can be. Ta

  6. Thanks for looking.

The right one apparently has the number 581 stamped on the arm that goes into the distributor

  9. Sorry to burst your bubble but the 034 and 581 combo are for a T1 , I've one on mine - a 1600 ....

    However....

    I do have a good and complete 205 which won't fit a 1600 - lugs on the underside - which I presume is for a later T4 .
Pm me if you want me to dig it out of my spares drawer in the spare room ...

I'm confused - you posted a pic of a 205P which is the correct one for a 2L. What do you actually have?

  11. The same but with a busted vacuum can. I'm building up a spare for the long touring stash:thumbsup:

I'm just after the 518 can, not the whole distributor.

  12. Oops, missed this! So I'm barking up the wrong tree:confused: Disregard my last comment as I'm now not sure what the spare I've got is. I'll go and check tomorrow.

The photo is of the distributor on the engine, not the spare.

TBH if you look at the curves for them they're all so similar it's pretty obvious any will work which is why the vendors all sell one distributor for type-1 and type-4 engines.

  14. So my spare is a 205:thumbsup:, but from your post @Zed I can safely assume any vacuum can will do the job?

Makes life easier if that is the case :)

Thanks for everyone's help - every day's a school day!

It will work, whether quite as intended is another thing. My comment was for the distributor as a whole.
