Project manager for a tobacco company. Just finished work in Ukraine and Poland, now got a few sites in France, one in Morocco and starting in Corsica on Tuesday.

  5. It's actually a pity point!

  6. If you dont go on the continent much it must be tempting to fit
hookey plates! whos going to know. With my luck id get a full document check! I recall european visitors to scooter rallies darn sarf arriving with no number-plates as they didnt need them at home with tales of being nicked every two feet. Brit cops used to give up pretty quickly when meeting a language/cultural barrier but i think its changing.

  7. unfortunately we do have brits over here with Velcro number plates...

I am prepared to pay speeding fines and car parking ,it is a huge relief they do not come with points unlike my French countrymen...

The key was the hired car ,even with speeding someone is accountable...:theforce:

Oh - I flew in the next time.

  10. firstly if he could afford to go skiing in chamonix then he can afford to pay the parking ticket.i refuse to be financially raped at french ski resorts anymore.
secondly if he was skiing rather than boarding then i`ve got no sympathy at all & the fine should be instantly doubled:thumbsup:

  11. it was actually for crossing a give way line before the traffic cleared , my mate argued with the copper , the copper drew his gun and the fine increased which he had to pay on the spot, and when he was back in the uk the English police called to his house with a summons to appear in a french court , as the fine he paid was only a surety , he ignored the summons and was found guilty in his absence which left a larger fine , which he had to pay on the spot at customs the next time he went

Mine was for driving a overweight lorry down the Avenue des Champs Elysees at the wrong time - I was told to by a copper too!

  13. I got a 80 quid fine for stubbing out a rollie , no filter, in Newcastle by a jobs worth all fair in love and war ( no bins by the way, which sucked as people dropped all sorts of poop as they walked by as I got fined) and yes I fought it to no avail .........yes I am a bad an evil person who realises that my efforts of recycling at home in hundreds of ways are just a 'waste' of time as I dropped a roll up butt end on the floor as there were no fing bins ..............and I looked.......and signing as I looked...................don't pay, 'power to the people ' quote Woolfie 197xxx

  14. Ditto, some climbing friends of mine were stopped at Calais on the way OUT of France. They had been in France all summer though.

  15. Apparently they had a lot of speed traps on route to the ferries this year, scraping the last few quid out of the weary traveler...

  16. I suggest that you don't pay and when eventually caught you just do the shrug thing.
They'll think that you are French and just let you off.
    What could possibly go wrong?
