Dodgy seller relisting on ebay.

  1. This is the one I won on ebay.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-CAMPER...8500711?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1c359c0167

After I'd won the auction I spoke to the guy and he kept saying things that just didn't tally with what he'd posted in the description. He hadn't got a single receipt for any of the £15k worth of parts he'd bought, he wouldn't confirm that the V5 was in his or soon to be estranged wife, and he talked about when he and his mate did the respray. He wouldn't tell me what panels had been replaced or which had been repaired. Just avoided any difficult questions and kept telling me about the new interior and expensive furniture he hadn't had time to fit.

I contacted a previous buyer who told me of the numerous problems he'd had with an MG he'd bought from this seller.

That also claimed an expensive restoration and respray. It was dry stored but still showed significant rust and bubbling. The new heritage shell claimed to be on the car was nothing of the sort - just a badly bodged original one.

I put these findings to him and he wasn't happy I'd checked up on him. He's a back street bodger.

So anyone thinking this sounds like a bargain - £18.5k spent and only £10k to buy - forget it!!

  2. I hope you reported this to E Bay so they could take this up with the seller and if need be pull his advert,

I think I will copy his advert when I put mine up for sale next week, its sounds and looks the part, good advert shame about the lack of clarity

  4. @davek - so did you actually bid for and win the van?

  5. Ebay aren't interested - all they want is his £25 selling fee.

They won't even remove the sale from my account as say that it's between me and him to resolve - I've sent them emails and they can see messages but not interested at all.

  6. Yes - £8.5k. Didn't pay a deposit luckily. But I did buy a train ticket - had I actually gone down I probably would still have been there - in a small room with bars on the window and devoid of any laces or a belt.

Arranged to go down two days later and it was during the call to confirm my train times that his story started to fall apart.

Give him a ring and quiz him about the history/receipts/paint - just don't let on you know what he's up to

  7. So you didn't part with any cash (or see the van before buying it)?
