Im trying to compile a list of all the best places to Beach and Pier fish around Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. We are always around these areas during summer months in the van (Both North and South) and wish to find a fishing spots in all locations so I always have the option of going for a fish.

I have been to a couple of rocky places where I have lost my rig every time I tried casting out and I have found rocky places are not for me.

Best place I have ever found so far is Chesil Beach in Dorset.
If you know of any equally (Gear safe) areas please say [IMG] .

Thanks so much in advance for any recommendations.

I have so far only ever fished for Mackerel and love it. I am also open to any other edible fishing [IMG]

Chesil Beach was where they tested the bouncing bombs used on the dams raid in WW II.
70th Anniversary of Operation Chastise is in a couple of weeks.
Useless facts are my speciality :D

  3. Have you tried using rotten bottom rigs. I use them on the Yorksire coast on heavy ground. They do work but tackle loss is enevitable to a certain extent

I am still very new to the fishing world though I have caught loads already. I just cat get on with rocks and spend most of the time cutting the line and loosing £2 rigs constantly that I am so scared of rocks now. :(

Boooooooo - rubbish fish that been there for a year rotting. Also I hate trawlers. Have you seen what they do to the sea bed. When I have fished Chesil and everyone is catching loads then along comes a trawler and then there is a catch every hour.

Fresh straight from the sea washed in sea water too and straight to the grill in van is what you need. Plus the fun of the catch.

  9. I ve only done Chesil down that way as you ve mentioned. When I m going somewhere new I just google beach fishing wherever and check out the local club sites. Most have a section on marks usually it ll give details of what you "might" catch, what state of tide fishes best, any hazards etc.
Have you thought of lure fishing for bass? If you use soft plastics they can be rigged "hookless" and they are cheap
Sorry I can't help you down that neck of the woods, but if you re ever up in the White Rose county give us a shout.
I ll send you some pics and details of rigs I use if you like. Works out a lot cheaper in the end
