Dropping front beam swing lever and drag link Q!

  1. Reading Haynes it just says disconnect and in Bentley it says use a puller....
I have disconnected (undone the nut) do I also need to seperate them?
Or will the act of dropping seperate them...
I tried my cheap two arm puller but it didn't fit very well so I left it.
I considered hammering it with a punch didn't want to use too much force.. What does every one else on here do?

  2. To pop off the drag link connection, you'll need a proper ball joint seperator. Anything else will tend to damage stuff.

  3. JK do a couple of ball joint breakers...

  4. Nope - they're horrible. You'll need a scissor type like this

As above, JK sell them. You can't do anything with your ball joints without a proper separator.

PS If the balljoint nut is a nylock type, it's best to replace them. Split pin types, just use a new split pin.

  5. PPS What are you trying to do?

  6. Drop the beam and switch over to a new beam, but I am following the book so who knows if its entirely amateur proof :D

  7. Mines split pin which is now off - and I'll order the above should give me and excuse to kick back and enjoy the sun

  8. Ah, right :). The Draper should pop your drag link off nicely...
