  1. Chaps, it appears I may need a new leisure battery, so what's the word? What's the fav among the more learned of fellows?

I just picked up a xplorer 110ah gel filled leisure battery from alpha batteries, though you could get the same in acid filled for about £85

    It's a bit of a minefield.

  3. buy an expensive one...there's no point scrimping

  5. Depends what your running off it, just a regular car battery is usually enough for most people just using lights, radio ect for a little while, i run all these without a second battery and it always starts (so far anyway) and ive got hook up for heavier/longer use with a smart charger to top the main battery up

  6. By the sound of the question Buddy he's already got a leisure set-up and wants a new battery for it.

    I second an Elecsol.

  7. We've got an elecsol 100 amp sat in the engine bay - it's the biggest we could get for the space. It lasted 4 days over the cold Easter weekend which included use of the propex so we didn't freeze to death, there wasn't enough juice left on the last night to fire up the propex (it seems to be a very big drain as everything else was fine) so we went to the pub all night instead lol

  8. I have a 100Ah banner energy bull and it can generally go pretty well for a weekend using lights, stereo and charging up a seemingly endless array of ipads and phones that my mates have bought with them camping.... it's the best I could find for the price at the time (100 quid). My best advise is double check the dimensions of whatever battery you are going for... I forgot and obliviously clicked the "buy it now" ebay button - it is 354mm long and only just fitted in the engine bay!

  9. Elecsol - 3rd'ed

(I think) the company that I got mine from was Tayna.co.uk

  10. Yeah i know, just saying a normal cheaper battery can be fine if its for light use over a couple of days

  11. Cheers fellows, will look into it, I have a zig cf9 and when hooked up it struggles to run a light and a cool box, the leisure battery in it has one oh those lights that tell you what's going on and it always says it needs charging. Just hoping the zig unit is ok....

  12. Another elecsol 110 here.

  13. Batteriesontheweb.co.uk based in Halifax, got my last 2 there.

  14. There is no battery in the zig unit...
The low battery light comes on when on hookup if there isn't a leisure battery fitted...
If on hookup it can't run a light and coolbox... I would have a good look at the leisure electrics.
