  2. So... SF for South African... R for replacement.. think that leaves it as an AP case? So poss a 1800?....

  4. So.... in the search for identification..
    Just make out a 121.191.371S on there.. so is looks to be 1800.. and no sign of a fuel pump or blanking late so FI case..?
    Pretty clean too so looks quite new.. so prob going with the wait till I can see if the smoking (other thread) stops after a good run..[​IMG][​IMG]

    SF = Engine assembled in South Africa
    AP = Engine case code
    R = Replacement crankcase - a recon in other words.
    The numbers are the unique engine number.

    If your gearbox is a 5 rib CM code it’s almost certainly an 1800 engine.

    Single relief crankcase with 1800 heads possibly with 41mm inlet, 34mm exhaust valves and solid lifters. Doesn’t mean it’s 1800 capacity although it probably is. The thermostat is missing - but you know that.
