It's funny how many replies/comments its had - if his goal was to get noticed, big tick in that box - plus you have to say, if you were a little kid (which most of us were when we started liking vw buses) seeing that thing, it looks and sounds mega! To me its the Harley Davidson of buses - lots of chrome, girders and over engineered - and to be fair to the guy not much of it looks bought off the shelf, it looks custom made by his own hand - might be the only bus capable of never damaging your legs in a front end crash! Like Harley's - not to my taste!
It seems the "market" has decided it's worth about £6k. So the engine's worth having but chuck the rest. I'd pay that for it, nick the engine for mine, remove the bits that offend / devalue and sell it on as a proper bus. Maybe the seller would be better off parting it out, but that isn't go to do his ego much good...
just noticed someone's asked the seller about the condition of the rubbers hahahahahaha. Thats got to be the last of his worry's if he brought the van.
I'm amazed at the amount of "slating/general ribbing" but it's understandable, it's the old adage of it's only worth what you are willing to pay, to be honest if the guy put the bumpers back to normal and the lights and some mods were toned down it would be worth more, while there's no doubt it's been built well, unless done to a general taste it makes it very selective - this is why when selling a house magnolia is king. I feel sorry for his blind optimism but he must know the van isn't worth 32k and the best he can hope is to de clutter it and make half that.
Over engineered on a Harley = pig iron girders for a frame and items such as a fuse board not out of place at Battersea power station. It's why they weigh the same as Saturn.
