Bought a system as part of a group buy Jenw setup back in 2011 and today after setting up carb and going for a test drive I looked back in the engine bay and noticed the needle in the gauge was nearly out of tolerance and into the red. Has anyone else experienced this? I think I read somewhere that they have only 12 months warranty but considering the cost and length of time it has been fitted and the fact that I have only covered a poultry 1500 miles at a push I think is shocking. Any feedback would be nice to hear and hopefully I can rest assured the system will go off when required and god forbid not discharge accidentally. Regards. Sharky.
Seems fair to me. These things have a shelf life, if you don't get it serviced don't expect it to be fine after that. I've had one sat in my shed for over a year, I won't fit it to my van till its been serviced cos its so old. These units don't care about mileage, its the age of the system.
I thought you could just pump them up , have you googled it ? Or any fire extinguisher place will up the charge in it
fire extinguishers need servicing yearly and a complete discharge after 10? years as i recall........ to be honest i've not even looked at mine since i fitted it and bought it at the same time....... i'll have to have a looky
Just had a looky at mine. Still in the green, got it in the last group buy so over a year old now. Just cos its in the green doesn't mean it'll work as it should. It's still out of warranty.
I got one in that group buy i went for powder and the gauge is fine I take it out every now and again and mix it up Might be worth calling them and see what it costs for a service
so how do you take it out??stupid question I know but the instructions in the box said not to trial fit it too many times due to damage to the tube etc,or can you leave the pipe inplace and take the canister for testing?? Thought they were a complete system?? I'll take a pic to show the position of the needle. Anyone service them themselves if so what and how do you do it??
There is a Schrader valve on most fire extinguishers that is used to pump up the canister with propellent, I don't think you inflate it with Air, too much Oxygen which would feed the fire.. Probably need an inert gas like nitrogen, co2 etc.
i had all the extinguishers serviced at work on thursday it seemed to involve weighing them cleaning them and pulling a tiny sticker off a hole and putting a small pump (like you blow baloons up with) over the hole then fitting a new sticker.... it didn't look like rocket science.
