For Fuchs sake... Cooked my brakes?

  1. So, I was in a mad rush to get the pickup ready for remot this morning and had a buyer coming round to pick up a van, so I threw new rear brake shoes on this morning. All working fine, passed the MOT all brake even and handbrake now working fine. Just went to the dump and the near side bake is obviously binding. Lots of smoke and now I've lost brake pressure until I pump it.

So, ive obviously over adjusted the near side brake to cause it to bind, I don't think its a handbrake fault. An I likely to have knackered the new shoes and/or hub lining? I'm guessing the lack of pressure is boiled fluid so I'll need to flush this through too?

Old Otto will be turning in his grave, removed the rear Granada? wheels and fitted the fake Fuchs. Think it looks a bit better now.

  2. You should be ok... You'll need to pop the drum off and check for glazing!! If it is glazed, you'll need to scuff up the drum with some sand paper

  5. I did the same to Ted, just pop em off and take a look, if they're shiny, scuff them with coarse wet n dry.
    Otherwise should be fine!

  6. hope it and easy sort !

  7. while drum is off for de glazing, id pull wheel cylinder dust boots back and make sure seals arn't leaking especially if its got hot enough to boil the fluid
