Betsy Sadly the time has come to part with our beloved Betsy, we have owned her for 6 years and have enjoyed just the best of holidays in her. We have always garaged her throughout the winter with a dehumidifier and lavished attention on her during the summer. Betsy was completely restored in 2010-2011 by Resto Classics in St Leonards East Sussex, ( https://www.restoclassics.com ) for a local owner who was very specific about the colour, and quality of work, stripped totally back, many panels were replaced ( listed below ) before being superbly resprayed in Bahama blue over pastel white ( and then waxoyled ). The quality of the paint work is exceptional wherever we take it it is always commented on. The interior is mostly the original Eurovette where parts have had to have been replaced they have been remade like for like, with high quality materials, it includes the wonderful swing out cooker, just the best thing about being out and about in Betsy is to be able to cook outside, it’s like a BBQ every night. Betsy has never let us down, the replacement engine has only done about 10,000 miles and runs like a sewing machine, always starts, cruises at 60 and as I said before turns heads everywhere. We have had bus loads of Japanese tourists lining up to get their pictures taken with her. We have also done a few weddings in her, only for friends of the family and some photos are below as well. We did many tours of Ireland and Wales and France, and enjoyed every minute of them. Amongst other work: Full restoration including replacement : Front panel, wheel arches, inner and outer sills, jacking points, outriggers, both doors, inner sliding door skin, side panels, rear corner. New recon engine eco 1.6 T/port no oil leaks. ! Window seals, track rod, shocks , new fuel tank, sender gauge and fuel lines, recon front beam. New electronic ignition, coil, leads plugs, washer bottle. Betsy comes with an awning a Fiamma bike rack and a protec breathable cover. Unusually there are three seat belts in the back two forward and one rear facing, great for taking children away in ! Inside she has an electrical hookup, leisure battery, usual Eurovette fittings inc sink, rock and roll bed electric cool box, CD player . LED reading lights We have left but have never used the two original bunks in the roof. Just had a MOT done which runs for a year, no advisories, but plenty of praise for her in the garage though. Tax exempt Thick pile of receipts Mot’s etc and the all important VW Birth certificate. Betsy is the perfect retro camper, practical, reliable and truly beautiful.
