Fridge Fuse Weirdness

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by jonspadge, Jul 11, 2013.

  1. All, just gone to charge my fridge up and nothing. On mains hook up out of the garage. Zig is working and everything else off of the mains good. Checked my juice to the aux fusebox (which fridge runs off) - all good. Then here is the weird thing, pulled the blade fuses and checked for resistance. All good but when I put the last one back in (having checked I got resistance) the fridge started working....

Of course I'm happy but I can't understand it. I've had poor connections before with the standard torpedo fuses but blades? Thought they didn't do this.

Fridge is one of those Vitrifrigo jobs. Wonder if it got its knickers in a twist and needed a little jolt (from putting the fuse back in).

    Any views folks?

Top Banana Racing's blade fuse melted without blowing and looked like a poor connection was the cause.
I guess there are blade fuse holders and blade fuse holders...

And there are blade fuses and blade fuses, I bought a large cheap selection pack and its a job to put any of them in the holder without bending both legs or snapping them across the middle.

All fuses will corrode making a bad connection cheep ones are worse
nothing wrong with the old torpedo ones

  5. Spares coming on holiday that's for sure.

  6. Your fridge has a low voltage cut out , when the battery drops to 11 volts the fridge will turn its self off to save draining the battery.
Im guessing the battery was low until the charger kicked in.
