Good morning all ive just been out to fit my new fuel gauge it works but its saying ive a full tank { its about half full} sender in tank is two years old but has never been connected all wiring from sender is new but not at the back of the gauge any ideas what is wrong cheers kev
I maybe wrong here but I think you have to calibrate the sender unit so it reads correctly. In layman terms I think it means bending the arm of the sender.
Ive put everthing back together turn ignition on fuel gauge goes to 3/4 then stops 1 minute later full tank again Turn ignition off needle goes down but keeps jumping back up Everytime i turn ignition on the needle reads slightly different Any ideas as to what i can do next
morning dave needle showing full now but very slow to get there i think im going to put some tape over the gauge so i carnt see it can i swop the wire around on the sender ??
just been for a drive ive got a full tank of fuel or a quarter of a tank fuel gauge does move the more i rev the engineim having a great day trying to sort this out i should of listened to everybody else and not bothered
Have you got the instrument panel out exposing all the connections? Follow this thread http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/fuel-gauge-check-procedure-website.24308/#post-408636. Don't go bending the arm on the sender - this is factory set. I just did mine and it was the voltage regulator.
cheers andy ive just checked all the wires and i think i had two of the wires the wrong way round on the gauge and vibrato ive now swopped them over and gauge looks like its working ok now
looks like you've found it. Assuming that the resistance of the fuel gauge is the same as the original ie matched to the sender.
thankyou everybody for your help ive now sorted the problem out i have put a cloth over the gauge i carnt see it so its not a problem
Hi Kev. Hope you've got it sorted. Am very sure the gauge was working fine as I bench tested it before selling it and calibrated it to the full/empty lines with the voltage stabiliser I included with it. Sorry you've had problems. Nick.
hello nick not your problem mate the gauge is working fine im well pleased with the purschase ive had to change some wiring and it now seams to be working ok ive filled tank to the top so im just going to watch the gauge now but im pretty sure its all good now
