Hi guys I'm sure there's a thread on here somewhere for this but can't find it. I need to replace my fuel hoses whilst the engine is out. Can anyone tell me... What grade/size fuel hose I need (the unleaded type) for my bus? How much will I need to replace the lot? Best place to buy it? Cheers Chris
Cheers BS just had a peep looks alright, is it the new grade unleaded/detergent resistant stuff that people suggest using?
If you've got a type 1 engine, you need 5.6mm ID (6mm at a pinch, if it truly is 6mm) R9-rated hose from folk like Gates or Codan. Your local motor factors may have Gates stuff off the reel. Have a search on here for (many) threads. About 2m should do you. Don't buy the cheap braided crap that the usual culprits still sell.
I think even JK have finally stopped selling the over braided stuff now! I'm not sure what the T2customs stuff is but I've never had any problems with it. I think its 6mm I/d.
R9 is marine grade hose , most of the motor factors will have R6 which will most likely be Gates or Codan and R6 is plenty good enough
coolair do the correct grade hose in 5.5mm Like snotty says, most 6mm ID hose isn't 6mm, and is generally bigger!!
R9 is not marine grade, that’s ISO 7840 A1 and R6 is not good enough especially for Ethanol enhance fuel. Use SAE J30R9 or Gates Barricade (if you can find it) and avoid any supplier that says his hose is suitable for all fuels but doesn’t know what grade it is. This has some useful info and is worth reading http://www.volksbolts.com/faq/fuelhose.htm.
I got mine of a eBay , that has a web site to and I think mine is the 5.6 mm not the 6 fits nice and had all the proper clips not the cheap stuff
