Fuming, bl**dy insurers

  1. As you may or may not know I had my car written off on the 5th september. I might buy a cheap runaround for the meantime but when I got a quote it came out at £100 pound more than the last car.
    fiat scudo 1.9td 6 seats £340
    fiat punto 1.2 5seats £430
I know they have to process claims and work out whose fault etc, I put in a no fault claim as i was hit in the back whilst stationary. This was with Katrina as the policy holder and me as name driver, if i alone insured it, it was £770.
If it turns out to be a no faulter then it would be reduced but god knows how long that could take. What happened to innocent until proven guilty.
They must think everyone earns bleedin' fortunes,

Bad luck Nick. Unfortunately some of these insurance companys see. It as a licence to print money!

  4. Maybe write or call your local newspaper. I'm sure they would like to hear how the insurance companies are screwing people over to make a profit from a high profile incident such as yours.

I thought you got a courtesy car if you had an accident and your car wasn't useable?

  6. Only if its repairable Ricky, well with my insurers anyway.

  7. Sainsburys quote direct £437, sainsburys through confused.com £59.00 less:confused:

  8. tis true , guilty until proven innocent as with most legal stuff , when i had my accident they put it as a fault claim, i too was stationary and hit by a car out of control coming from a multi car pile up , i did contest but they have you by the watsits and they know it . If you have an accident they class you as more likely too have another  even if its nowt ta do with you. I did get mine sorted in the end but i had to wave a finger or too. I was thinking about your accident the other day nick and wondered how the insurance companies would sort out blame on that one, maybe with it being such a big well published one maybe it will bring a few things to a head especially if alot have been left in the same position as you and stick together and fight it, but then stuff like that can take years and in the meantime ......................................... you suffer!! Hope your ok thou mate.

then it's typical company bull crap, an accident that you are insured against and isn't your fault and you are out of pocket.... bizarre.

  11. The accident pictures clearly show a gap between me and the van behind indicating that i was stationary when he hit me but i bet they still argue the toss.

  12. Mines cost me thousands rick. But im still waving my finger.

  13. Always the case, Mrs Robo has been paying higher insurance for nearly two years since a bus clobbered her rear quarter!

Its obvious the bus pulled out of his lane into hers as it goes round a corner, she braked on the bend to slow down as you do the bus carried on and whollop! Problem is the bus driver will never admit fault as he would most likely be reprimanded through work & someone has told me that they could be made to do a re-test, unsure if that's true!

Apparently there was a witness that said she was speeding but the independent investigator couldn't get in touch with them even after visiting their address several times, apparently even if they cant contact the witness the statement still stands, that's a joke as its so obviously a load of boorax.

Her insurance company have said that the best they can hope for is a 50/50 but Mrs Robo said she is not at all happy with that, thing is two years on still paying top dollar as if it was her fault so may as well go for 50/50 but I bet that won't make her premium any lower, will they give her a refund for all she has shelled out, of course not!

Its a necessary evil I'm afraid...

I always thought rear ended it defaults to the person behind. As for speeding how can a witness say she was speeding unless they had her on a radar or an expert speeding person.

Wouldn't stand in court guessing.... I'd go for court action, as the vehicle behind should leave enough of a gap...

Our car was hit outside our house, boy racer parked behind and as he pulled out took out the rear panel.

No one in the car, but as the wife was last driving it defaults to be her fault until the claim is settled. Thankfully we have several independent witnesses but will still take forever to get sorted!!

I had me van stolen i claimed back 4000
    Pounds
before the claim insurance was 600 quid after the claim it went up to 3000 grand

  19. You would think that witness statement would work in her favour. If she was speeding and the bus still hit her behind then how much faster must the bus have been going?

  20. Update day 2. So the firm who offered me a policy for £280 rang me back to say they had made a mistake and it would be £700 a few colourful words and slamming down of the phone and here i go again. Well the Co-op came up trumps with £340.00 with all the bells and whistles so I bought it.Next problem DVLA, I cant get a tax disc with just a policy number and the insurance documentation isnt available to print for 24 hours. No one will email a cover note these days. Then when I do tax it i have to backdate it to the beginning of the month anyway. So legally I cant get back on the road for another two days, I may have forgotten how to drive by then. The system stinks.
I am mentally f******g drained. Why is it all so bleeding awkward these days?
