  1. any tips?

I assembled the 2 'shuttle cocks' and rear bellows on my shifter rod as per Mr Bently's instructions and inserted the lot from the rear

    front went in fine

rear bush (2 lugs with metal ring) arrives at the tube and wont go in  .....so a bit more force ...........and it snapped the bush :arrggh:

    every thing was nicely greased

any tips for getting this one in.....is there an easy way?

I was thinking of making a tool like a piston ring compressor ....or using a jubliee clip .....or am I barking up the wrong tree?.....or just barking

    any tips appreciated :)

  2. Have you tried it without the metal split ring? Having found that it was somewhat thicker in gauge than the original and preventing the fingers of the bush from closing up sufficiently I tried it without. The bush was then a good fit and the shift rod didn't rattle around either.

  3. thanks mate

    didnt think of that

I'm reluctant to fit it without the metal ring though as it had one originally so it must serve a purporse.....but if they are a different gauge....and provided I still have the old one....and providing it is still usable ;D ........I might try and use the old one

  4. The ring was nearly double the gauge of the original and nearly impossible to close up. Normaly I wouldn't just leave bits out but I thought *** it I'll see what happens. The nylon material was also slightly thicker too which didn't help. However that was done a couple of years ago and other than discovering just how stiff the old system had been I've had no problems.
