Gods of TLB help????

I have a 98 golf gl auto estate with what is believed to b a gearbox/ diff crown problem

What would a repair b likely to cost or

Which gearboxes would fit so I could swap out the gearbox easily

I have scoured the net for ages with no joy on used boxes or info of which other boxes(different models etc) I could use,

Any help appreciated ta

Get the gearbox code off it, a reconditioned one is around 300, most audi A3, golf etc boxes fit, the crownwheel rivets usually shear and poke a hole it the gearbox inside the bellhousing , 3-4 hours to change in an equipped workshop, most of a day at home on the floor .

 

Ps the gearbox code is usually on the big white sticker in the spare wheel well

The engine code is agg and the box code DNS

 

There's one on eBay - says it fits the AGG engine - for £199 + 50 to del?
