Well today we got the information we requested from DVLA as to Stig's history (well what they had of it anyway) Thank you to all who helped us when we were trying to fill out the forms. Turns out we are his tenth owners, he went to Scotland new, the first owner owned him for eleven years, he then went to six other owners in Scotland before he made the trek from one end of the country to the other down here, and the chap that owned him before us where he sat for twelve years . Other than that he went from orange and white to blue and white in 1997 and to red and white in 2000. Thats all I can see at the moment with the information but not had time to look through it properly yet. If anyone is on here from Scotland and recognises him, let us know Other than that fingers crossed he gets back on the road this year and can be used and enjoyed properly again! As you were.
You're lucky you can get that sort of information. We have little hope of being able to get these sort of details out here with each State or Territory having its own registration departments, plus our Privacy Acts both State & Federal
@ Terrodales. Thats a pity! To be fair we can't get masses of information, but it is quite interesting to see where he has been! And it was only a fiver. Only ....lol.
Well done Mrs B - i had mine back and wrote to the first owner who according to google still lived at the same address , the people who live there now sent it back saying - not at this address
I tried to find your thread Malc to reply on but gave in after a while I don't know whether to write to them or not!
Go for it , i was like that i felt odd about writing to a stranger - did i intrude , let sleeping dogs lie etc but decided to do it anyway , i was sooo disappointed when i got my letter back saying " not at this address - i might write to other owners
Worth a go, you never know what snippets of info you might uncover, I wrote to my bus' previous owners, and got a couple of letters back, including this pic from the 90's..
Just fill out this form: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/AdviceOnKeepingYourVehicle/V888.pdf and send it off with £5 to DVLA - we just said we were restoring the vehicle and wanted to find out any previous history they may have for our own benefit only. If you need any help just shout - Malc and a few others have done it recently as well - Wonder if the DVLA are wondering what all these request on latebays are suddenly from/for Thats very cool - well done - just worries me how people may react!
No worries, good luck! Just seen that the number plate Stig originally started out with was: WGS 7L and in the DVLA's words "before it was involved in a cherished transfer to the current mark"
