Has anyone ever taken their Late Bay through a car wash?

  1. I took the Nissan through the other day and pondered what it would be like to take the van through.

I know it would leak EVERYWHERE - but has anyone else done it?

  2. er no thanks

  5. I never use car washes i actually enjoy cleaning our vehicles! :D

  6. I went to South Wales to drive for a friend's wedding a couple of months ago, and had the same dilemma. There was a carwash at the Asda near where we stayed the night before the wedding, so I drove over before breakfast to get the van washed, and it was too tall for the carwash!

No matter, the man at the carwash liked my van so much he washed it by hand with bucket and brush and then jetwashed it down afterwards. (It leaked a bit when he jetwashed it though!! :) ) As it was quiet, he was OK with me going around and drying it off with a chamois leather before moving it. In hindsight, I'm not sure I'd have liked to have driven it through even if it did fit in the carwash.

I don't even wash mine with a hose......

  10. Me neither

  11. I went to one of the hand car wash places. I got wetter from the inside of the cab with the doors and windows fully shut than the entire rest of the bus did. I wouldn't recommend it.

Still, it gave all the Eastern Europeans something to smile about for the day.

    :D

  12. I've been through a couple of times.
Unscrew the arial and sit in the back listening to the radio and wiping up water that comes in through the slat window things.
    It's no big deal.

Never tried a carwash but did once use a pressure washer to blast half-set white Hammerite off the roofrack which I had painted a fortnight before all over the neigbourhood. Still finding odd flakes stuck to the roof of the bus.

I dont do pressure washers or Hammerite any more round the bus.

  15. What do you use then? Do you use that spray jml mantis stuff?

    Sponge , bucket , shammy....

  17. I suppose if I wanted to save time, I could go through the car wash and have a hair wash at the same time (big gaps around the doors problem ...).

  18. The foreign car wash people know me well for miss Molly... I do get a face full of water on occasion but I now move into the back. Makes me laugh so I think they think I'm crazy sat in the back giggling... Anyway, they always do a really good job and give me lots of free car fresheners as a special treat (or they just think I'm a smelly hippy ;) )

  19. I don't wash mine, I'm working on the theory that the more dirt I have on my van will protect it from rust :D
