Hello all, maybe about to become a very late bay owner.

Hello everyone,

Very late in more ways than one!

Just wanted to say hello as after thinking about it for over 25 years I am hopefully about to become a VW Bus owner!

As a child, my parents had a 1976 Mandarin orange Bay window camper. They sold it after about 20 years of happy use and I've toyed with getting myself one ever since. I've swung from getting an early split screen (when they were more sensibly priced!) to a later T25 and everything in between.

Well at long last it looks like I'm getting one, Yay! I've got to finalise things, but if all goes well I will shortly be the proud owner of a very late bay. How late you ask? Well, they only made another 356 after this one before turning out the lights at the Brazilian Kombi production line!

I'm hoping to blog about our ongoing story with it on here, so look forward to talking with you all in due course.

similar story here, family holidays in the’70s in a bay. Almost bought several split busses before I realised that the best option for what I wanted to do was a late westy. Brazilian will have some differences vs a German bus but don’t let that put you off. I’m guessing it’s a water cooler?

If it's that late a late bay, is it air or water cooled?

 

Water, 1.4 petrol/alcohol engine. Hope the air cooled purists will forgive me my sins. I do have an air cooled beetle to make up for it!
