Just a quick hello, I'm out and about on a few forums so some people may know me, Ive been restoring a 72 Devon Moonraker for probably the last four years, strictly not a late bay but technically not an early either :-[ so dont hold it against me ;D The resto of the Devon is taking so long and er in doors just wants something roadworthy that we can use this year so this thursday im taking delivery of my new Deluxe from California. Anyway heres my Devon.. Looking for lots and lots of parts, including a complete lhd interior. I'll stick a wanted up for everything.
Thanks Peeps.. Yeah lots and lots of work has gone into the Devon, sadly with working away most weeks I get to spend very little time on her. Like I said my other half is getting a bit fed up now with it and since she's met more like minded vw widows at our local club meets http://www.liverpoolvwclub.com shes now very keen to have something running so we can participate. So with in mind and the fact that i'm not going to rush the Devon I've bought another van its a 71 Deluxe I actually pick up this Thursday, its solid complete and running so hopefully just a quick light resto for an mot then a rolling resto as were using her. Oh if it helps things, I live in a tiny two up two down house.... with which the only reason I bought it was cause it came with plenty of land to build the garage I wanted (although were hopefully moving this year or next so the next garage will be bigger ) I litterally have thousands!! of photos of my Devon, I'll keep it short but heres a few of my favorites.... Just after lowering.. Brand new 1776cc motor, all mocked up here (and yes thats my dads front room on a garden table, state of the art) All the tinware painted but changed my mind about the brown now. The rest really just involve lots of this.. There was more filler in this van than steel. Anyway, if I find time to do a proper build thread on it 8) Sadly the Devons on the back burner at the moment awaiting the Deluxe, the purists wont like it but I always wanted to put a diesel in the Devon but i've really got the subaru bug at the moment so might go that route and race it. Anyway I have an empty LHD van coming and I'm basically in need of everything to turn it into a camper, so if anyone has anything lying round they dont want get in touch.. ie, r n r bed, 2/3way fridge, gas hob/sink, night heater or even a complete lhd interior.
welcome aboard tlb , enjoy your cruise . Watch out for rickyrooo1 he will latch onto yer , he's into all things brown .
lol, also I didnt mention that my dad bought the van about 4-5 years ago with 12 months mot (not that it'd been near a ramp!) and tax. And yet me or him never got to drive it, the engine had a misfire so I ended up pulling it out and while I did me dad (much to my annoyance) cut the rear arch off cause he was bored!! Then things spiralled out of control. So i've never actually driven a bay on the open road yet, just my mates around private land p.s its not brown anymore I wanted biege and brown only flipped over to what it was.. This missus isnt keen though.
Another member of the Brownian Motion splinter group??!! Brownian motion (named after the botanist Robert Brown) or pedesis (from Greek: πήδησις "leaping") is the presumably random drifting of particles suspended in a fluid (a liquid or a gas) or the mathematical model used to describe such random movements, which is often called a particle theory.
Thanks guys! Took delivery of my new 71 Deluxe yesterday, long long drive down to felixstowe to pick her up. You have to look past the sh1tty paint some moron has blown over her its super solid underneath with just a few parking related prangs to sort out. Going to be a busy boy next few months, deadlines Bus Types but its been in regular use and runs (just about), drives and stops so hopefully wont take much to get her roadworthy 8) Sorry not a lb :-[
I blew the supercharger to bits which was there achillies heel but I had a spare, got the spare rebuilt drove the car to a local VW meet (About 20miles) came home and decided to strip it for the full on show car finish, smoothed engine bay 1.8T 20valve turbo engine etc etc Wouldnt mind its got brand new set of Toyo Proxy's on it thats done about 20 miles. Then I bought a house and it sort of put a stop to it all. Heres a few more random photos, Was collecting all the toys for her, there must be thousands of pounds worth all in my dads damp leaky shed :'( Dont know why I never got photos of this finished. These wheels didnt come cheap and now there all boxed up brand new in my dads loft. Mk3 Dashboard conversion, phat roll cage, ps2 state of the art in the naughties ;D
