Hello from sunny Kent

hi all. just to introduce my self and my van. Been into it cooled vw,s fora fair few years now.. On my third bus, having had to sell our beloved split screen westy camper due to new member of the family, but replaced her with Dora, a 74 bay from California, was a westy and retains westy roof but has bespoke furniture and best (and worst) of all has a 2.4 litre type four engine with upright Porsche fan, twin 48's and every other expensive bit you could imagine. All good fun until three days after buying the van and not being able to get it to run right, it goes to the local vintage Porsche expert and £5699 later I get it back with a full engine rebuild etc, now being run in, but should make about 175 bhp!!!. Dora was restored by a rolls Royce engineer 10 years ago, all super straight with lead loading etc and the flattest paint you have ever seen, but alas he failed to wax oil the cavities and now I am spending this winter repairing rot, although it is confined to very small sections and is quite enjoyable really.. I will start a resto thread shortly and show of all the van and the work I am carrying out.
I have been reading this forum as a guest for some time now and it is always very friendly and informative, and also very witty at times.

Not been for a year cos we have our own club called the slowlaners with some people from Medway.. Are you restoring you're now or thinking about it??!!!

 

Going to tidy up the interior over winter - nothing fancy - and few odds and sods on the exterior - might do window rubbers as they are a bit shot- but I never go out in rain
