I need to replace the skylight on my Poptop It’s 42omm x 420mm I’d like a smoked/black/tinted one with manual opening and a fly screen and blind if possible I don’t want one with a fan, remote control or electric opening. Searching round I’m really struggling to find what I want Can anyone help?

Or something like this and take the fan out: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/15513232...ar=455312964605&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Cheers Doug I’ve looked at those two and did think about pulling the motor out of the fan one But reading reviews on it apparently those ones have a tendency to open themselves up whilst driving. I did think of painting the other style up and tinting the cover but apparently tint spray melts the transparent plastic.
Para you can tint with a piece of vinyl, like they do on normal windows. A hot air gun helps you wrap curved surfaces.
I started off with a Devon with a bit of rusty steel sheet over the hole fitted by a PO to replace the Devon vent. It dripped condensation and it started to leak really badly as the steel rusted. So I fitted an aluminium sheet over the hole and then I chose a boat hatch that was smaller than original, and used some of the rest of the area as a site for cable glands for the solar panel cables. On my aluminium pop top there is a noticeable ridge in the middle for stiffening, and that caused me grief when I tightened up the frame of the hatch to the roof and the seal wouldnt work.. so I had to loosen the screws and rely on some shims and the adhesive properties of Tiger Seal to let me fit the frame flat enough for the hatch to seal.
Unfortunately it’s too big I need one that fits a 36cm x 36cm hole With a maximum outside measurement of 42cm x 42cm I was hoping for a black/smoked one I can’t find any to fit and googling the part number on mine it seems it’s from an American Rv. I’ll have to have a go at refurbishing the one I have Or make an adapter plate to take a smaller one I’m not keen on that idea as I would be introducing more potential leak points.
Have you considered a brass portal? It won’t rust, is watertight and an added boon is if you have any ex Royal Navy friends or perhaps people that liked to travel on steam ships in 3rd class they will feel right at home. Give the kids a treat….make them watch The Poseidon Adventure and next time it rains you can all pretend you are trapped in a 1970’s disaster movie…
Explains why so many ex RN have pubs…..any excuse to have some brass to polish. It’s a close fought thing….a pub…a shire horse…..a pub….a shire horse. Can’t get mullered each night in a shire horse.
