this is in my build thread already, but some of you may not see that, so thought id chuck a quick one up here too. basically, took one of my heads off today and found the cylinders were full of rusty water but from everything i can gather everything bottom end-wise is fine. i cant afford to buy any significant engine parts (i.e pistons/cylinders etc.) so i was thinking i would use the cylinders/pistons/heads off my old engine, which died due to big end bearing failure on cylinder one. but, most of the piston rings on those are in pieces, just fell out when i took the cylinders off. from what i can tell the barrels arent scored on the inside, and are in MUCH better condition than the ones on the engine i was going to put in, which ive already binned because the cylinder bores were so bad, and definitely unusable. (im bloody glad i decided to change that cracked head!) does anyone have any thoughts on this? would it work to use the old pistons and cylinders, but with new piston rings and head studs and such? any help would be great! also, if anyone has any advice as to where to buy the piston rings etc that would be awesome! as i dont know where is the best quality and i definitely cant afford to be buying twice!
